Akaushi, Wagyu, & Charolais Cattle

Welcome to Y2 Wagyu:

Offering Wagyu & Charolais fullblood, purebred, and crossbred cattle. We also offer semen and embryos from our line of fullblood genetics. Located in East Texas and South Central Oklahoma, we are dedicated to producing the highest quality cattle including fullblood Black Wagyu, Akaushi (Red Wagyu), and Charolais bulls, heifers, semen, and embryos.

Our focus is on providing fullblood breeding stock, bulls for commercial cattlemen and local beef producers, and crossbred cattle for superior beef production.

We pride ourselves on placing our customers with cattle, genetics, and consultation to meet their goals.

Wagyu:

Wagyu simply translates to Wa = Japanese and, Gyu = Cow. There are four breeds or strains of Wagyu with only the Japanese Black and Japanese Brown (Kumamoto line) available outside Japan. Japanese Black or Black Wagyu are superior marbling cattle which can pass this superior marbling ability in first cross (F1) progeny. Japanese Brown are also referred to as Red Wagyu or Akaushi. In the US they are bred for the superior meat quality traits and calving ease ability and, are also used in terminal meat programs with breeds like Angus and Holstein to increase the meat quality grade of the first cross (F1) progeny.

Charolais:

The Charolais originated in west-central to southeastern France, in the old French provinces of Charolles and neighboring Nievre. The exact origins of the Charolais are lost to us but it must have been developed from cattle found in the area. Legend has it that white cattle were first noticed in the region as early as 878 A.D., and by the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were well and favorably known in French markets, especially at Lyon and Villefranche. Selection developed a white breed of cattle which, like other cattle of continental Europe, were used for draft, milk and meat.
